MENS PERFORMANCE SQUAD

Our Men’s teams includes the 1st XV and "Druids" 2nd XV sides as the pinnacle of men's rugby at London Welsh. This Performance Squad is driven by player experience and aspiration and has the unbridled mandate of returning London Welsh RFC to the highest possible level in English Rugby.​

  • Our 1XV has seen sustained success since 2017 when we initiated ‘project reset’ with an ambition to achieve 4 promotions in the following 5 seasons. Over that period, we  achieved our ambition and, after 3 years at Level 5 won promotion to National League 2 East.

  • The Druids 2nd XV is very much part of the extended 1st XV and strives to be interchangeable in a highly competitive environment where movement between our top two sides is very much supported and encouraged. The Druids compete in the London Shield.

  • Completing the Men’s section is our ”Dragons” 3rd XV, providing an entry point for younger players, as well as our Vets and Occies sides that keep former players, friends and more casual enthusiasts playing the game they love with London Welsh.

​

The squad is given a professional environment where players are encouraged to reach their potential within an inclusive and sustainable environment. It further includes age grade internationals where we have strong connections with the Rugby Football Union, the Welsh Rugby Union and strategic relationships with leading BUCS Super Rugby Universities, Premiership Academies and the Welsh Regional sides.
