This Saturday we welcome Fullerians to Old Deer Park. Originally called Watford Grammar School Old Boys Rugby Union Football Club, they were formed in 1925. In time they changed their name to Old Fullerians RFC in honour of Dame Elizabeth Fuller, who founded the school back in the 18th century, and in the mid-1960s dropped the "Old" to become Fullerians RFC and an open club.
The 2018/19 season brought eight wins for Fullerians in London 1 North but even their 42 league points wasn’t enough to save them from taking one of the three relegation places. The 802 points they conceded in 26 matches was relatively low compared to the 1314 points and 1280 points conceded by Luton and Diss respectively and the 14 bonus points claimed during the season proves that there was more to their season than the league table may initially suggest.
A 26-5 win at Luton in the opening weekend got their campaign off to a good start but the visit to Letchworth the following Saturday was less fruitful and they headed home on the back of a 27-13 defeat. The visit by Datchworth provided Fullerians with a win on their first home game of the season, a 26-12 half time led becoming 45-12 by full time. Fullerians are now 5th in the table with nine points.
Welsh are currently second in London 2 North West, equal on league points with Chiswick and separated only on points difference. This league has certainly brought a new set of challenges and whilst 119 points scored shows that the attack remains effective, the 86 points against is over half the number conceded in total last season. That said, the games so far have brought maximum league points and there's a three point gap over third place so it has been a good start to the season!
This isn’t the only match at ODP on Saturday. London Welsh Druids will play Hampstead 2s in the Merit Table Cup. Kick off for this game will be at 2pm.
The pre-match lunch can be booked at www.tickettailor.com and the servery next to the bar will be open to sell hot food before and after the game.
ADMISSION IS FREE!
