The 2018/19 season comes to a close with the Middx Bowl Final this Saturday when welcome Finsbury Park to ODP. We will also be extending a very warm welcome to the officers of Middlesex RFU and hope they have an enjoyable afternoon.
Normally for a final we would expect to look at the route through the previous rounds but this competition has been unusual. Four teams originally applied to take part and the semi-final draw would have taken London Welsh on the road to visit Hitchin whilst Hendon would have hosted Finchley.
Hendon and Hitchin both withdrew from the competition and were replaced by Finsbury Park and Actonians respectively. By the time the semi-finals were due to be played Finchley and Actonians had decided to now not participate and therefore both finalists reached this stage without any games being played.
Finsbury Park RFC was only formed in 2011 to offer young people in the area the opportunity to play rugby. Adult rugby sections started in 2012 to open the club up to everyone in the community. They won Herts/Middx 2 in 2017/18 and 18 wins from their 22 games this season has brought another promotion. Their four league defeats came from home and away losses against both Hitchin and St Alban's, the first and third placed teams in the league. Their league season came to a close with a 72-14 win over Thamesians.
Kick off on Saturday is at 3pm. The bar will be open, hot food is available to purchase and ADMISSION IS FREE!
