15 - 13

Recap

Druids were set a tough test last Saturday to get the New Year underway and they passed with flying colours. A break in the MMT season allowed us to welcome Chobham 1st XV to ODP and despite the visitors being the in the RFU leagues and playing a level higher our 2nd XV ran out 17-7 winners.

The last MMT game had been at home to Belsize Park 2s in a top of the table clash. Belsize Park had been unbeaten since December 2018 but Druids were far from overawed by this record and ran in a very convincing 36-17 win.

This Saturday Druids travel to HAC 2s for the tenth round of MMT fixtures. The two teams met in mid-October and at half time Druids led 29-7. They added 31 points without reply in the second half to finish the game victors by 60-7.

In the games since that encounter HAC 2s have won four and lost two, not surprisingly the defeats being against Hammersmith & Fulham and Belsize Park. One match into the second half of the season and HAC are placed fifth out of nine teams with a 17 point gap from the two relegation places.

Druids lead a tight group at the top of the table with two points covering three teams. Hammersmith & Fulham and Belsize Park hold second and third places respectively.

It is hoped that this Saturday’s game will be played at HAC Grounds on City Road with a 2pm ko. This is subject to the pitch being fit for use and we hope to have this confirmed on Thursday.
