Recap

The 19-12 victory at Bracknell was a good start to the trio of pre-season games and this Saturday’s trip to Brighton is designed to test the squad once again. New and familiar faces took the field for the 1st XV last Saturday whilst a very strong performance from the Druids showed the depth of talent throughout the squad.

Brighton finished ninth in London & SE Premier when the 2019/20 season was brought to an end. Eight wins, two draws and twelve defeats were topped up with nine bonus points and an eight-point adjustment for cancelled games to leave them with a final tally of 53 and comfortably ahead of the relegation zone.

Brighton can trace their beginnings back to 1868 when they played under the laws of Rugby College, later affiliating to the RFU and playing according to those laws instead.

Now based on the outskirts of the town, Brighton are looking forward to welcoming our players and supporters. They have helpfully given the following travel and matchday information:

The ground is in Waterhall Rd, BN1 8YR, near the A23/A27 junction.  The nearest train station is Preston Park – so if you got off there it’s about 2 miles in a cab or Uber.  There isn’t a taxi stand there though so you’d need to call a cab or use Uber.  Best number is 01273 202020.

You can always go direct to Brighton or Hove stations where they have cab ranks – but it’ll just take a bit more time and money.

There is lots of parking on site.  Head up the access road (Waterhall Lane) and left at each fork.  You’ll see the main car park on your right as you come upto where the Clubhouse is.  Mind the speed ramps!

A bar – inside and out – will be open from 1230 ish and the club will be serving food – Pies, Burgers, Chips, Sausage Rolls etc all day. There will be music and tents set up outside for pre and post match plus lots of beer at low prices!

Kick off for this match and Druid’s game against Brighton’s 2nd XV, will be at 3pm.
