Scanna ANNOUNCED AS NEW sponsor for London Welsh Colts Academy

London Welsh are thrilled to announce a brand new sponsor for the Colts Academy for this season 2023/23 – Scanna, a  local supplier of security detection equipment.

The Colts Academy was set up to prepare our U17’s and U18’s for senior rugby, be it at the club or at University. We have 50 registered players in the Academy and we are running two squads in the Surrey league to enable everyone to maximise their game time.  We are always looking for new players to join and they will be coached by Blake Mingay and Tom Baldwin who are running our Academy with guidance and support coming from Richard Thomas (Barrel), Adrian Davies

As part of the Sponsorship, Scanna have provided branded polo shirts that the squad will wear travelling to matches and for post match friendlies and socials. Scanna join our other Colts sponsored Location;Live and Lasyl who are on the  reversible training tops designed by Rhino Teamwear, along with our Community sponsors Chestertons; plus the squad have received some sponsored shorts that they will wear for matches.  The players picked up their polo shirts  from the club on Sunday which was funded by our sponsors and the club.

Gareth V Jones, Colts Team Manager and Finance Director

“I’m delighted that we have 50 U18 players in our Colts playing competitive rugby, but more important than that; is to create memories on and off the pitch. We want these lads to have a great time at the club and part of that experience is providing some stash for them.  We couldn’t do this without our very generous sponsors and the players all love receiving new stash.  Our goal is to enable a smooth transition from Colts rugby to Senior rugby, be it at University or as part of our performance squad.  Nothing would make us prouder than to see our Youth system developing players for our performance squad over the next few years

Scanna Representative – Kirstine Wilson

When Richard Thomas asked us if we would like to support the Colts and Sponsor them, we couldn’t wait to get involved.  Some of our knife arches are used at schools to keep young people safe. We want to enable this age group in particular to enjoy their last couple of years of Youth rugby with a bit more stash.  London Welsh is a club we take a huge interest in and we can’t wait to come down to watch a Colts match in the near future and to meet the boys.

London Welsh Colts have two tantalising fixtures before Christmas.  We are splitting the age group so we can have an U17 match vs Teddington on December 18th; KO at 10:00am,  This will be followed by an U19 match, where we reunite the Colts from last year in a fixture vs Teddington U19’s, KO at 11:30.  Come down to support the next generation of London Welsh players.
