Pre Season Fixtures go live!

No sooner has the season ended and straight into an exciting pre season.

Truth be told preparations for 2023/24 had been underway even before the current season had ended. With 2022/23 always being earmarked for consolidation, eyes turned early to the coming 2023/24 season and the official start of the next phase of Project reset; with phase 1 and the 5 year plan completed.

The club board has been very busy behind the scenes and more will follow in the coming weeks as to recruitment and further progressive moves for the coming season. The club AGM will take place on 14 June at ODP from 7.30 and that will be a great opportunity to get the low down for the coming season.

Turning to pre season and we have a tasty mix of curtain raisers to the season:

We kick matters off with a mouth watering visit to North Wales and Rugby Gogledd Cymru RGC 1404. This seasons annual London Welsh meeting with Welsh Premiership opposition heads North on 5th August. The match will be played at Caernarfon RFC’s Y Morfa, the home town club of our Director of Rugby Cai Griffiths. Welsh will have the opportunity to test themselves once again, against a top Welsh Premiership side having met Cardiff RFC and Pontypridd RFC in the last two seasons (Neath being the opposition in 2019).

The Exiles then move back to English National League opposition and take on Canterbury RFC of National League 2 East. The connections continue with DoR at the Kent club being London Welsh legend Matt Corker; who sits 9th in the all time record appearance holder stakes in our great club history- with 247 Appearances. The match will be played at the hosts Marine Travel Ground on 19 August and will provide good National League experience opposition.

Proceedings are concluded on 26 August as Welsh finish the season preparations away to Harpenden RFC of Regional 1 South East; who finished 4th in a strong season at the same level as Welsh this time out.

We look forward to seeing the #lwfamily out in force as we build up to a big season. More information on the fixtures, travel and exciting recruitment will follow in the coming weeks; we welcome you all to the AGM on 14 June, 7.30 at Old Deer Park.
