London Welsh Rugby Club are saddened to learn of the passing of former clubman Noel Patterson who died over the weekend, at the age of 66.
Noel was a popular and much-loved figure among London Welsh supporters throughout his long association with the club.
Noel was a keen supporter of the club since arriving from Penarth/Dinas Powys, Wales where he played more than his fair share of rugby. He has lived in the Richmond area for over 30 years, just two streets away from Old Deer Park, while also never forgetting his Welsh roots.
He was widely regarded by the many people who met him at London Welsh games and events as funny and intelligent possessing a wonderful turn of phrase and a love for sport. He played tennis and squash regularly at Old Deer Park, and watched all three boys play for the London Welsh minis and youth teams.
During the last two seasons, despite failing health Noel could often be seen at our games, watching and enjoying them from a regular spot on the duckboards.
Noel was a much-loved club supporter. He will be dreadfully missed. Our thoughts are with Noel’s wife Janet, and his sons, Fred, Arthur and Ed and the rest of his family at this very sad time.
Noel is being cremated at Mortlake Crematorium on August 14th at 12:40pm. For those who knew him well, there will be remembrance drinks in the London Welsh Pagoda room from 2pm.
