The new clubhouse was mainly funded by public subscription from members and players, and replaced the original wooden structure that had been used by the club since London Welsh took over the tenancy of Old Deer Park from Rosslyn Park in 1957.
Discovered in the archives of London Welsh was a 40 minute BBC Wales recording presented by Cliff Morgan, of the opening ceremony by Prince Charles in 1969 and includes footage of the game between London Welsh and an International Welsh XV.
This is an incredible piece of London Welsh history, and as a bonus to this film we will also be showing footage of the first game London Welsh played at Old Deer Park in 1957 and a clip of London Welsh on England v. Wales International Day in the same year.
The London Welsh Supporters Club will be showing this film on a special anniversary evening in the Pagoda Room at Old Deer Park on Wednesday 23rd October at 8.00pm.
Members and guests are invited to attend. The cost, including a curry with rice and trimmings will be £15 for Supporters Club members or £18 for non-members.
You can reserve your place or a table of 10 via the Supporters Club: londonwelshsupportersclub.co.uk
