The London Welsh Supporters Club are delighted to have ex London Welsh coach Clive Griffiths as the speaker at their next Sportsman’s Lunch at Cafe Mamma on Kew Road on Friday 23rd August. 1.00 pm.

Clive is a dual-code international who played rugby union for Llanelli and was a replacement for Wales during the 1979 Five Nations. He got his one cap when he came on the field as a replacement for JPR Williams in the 27-3 victory over England in Cardiff.

During the summer of 1979 he signed for rugby league team St Helens where he scored 598 points in 100 games before joining Salford in 1984. He also represented Wales and Great Britain at Rugby League.

Clive spent three years at London Welsh as coach in 2000 taking them into the Championship and bringing many high-class players with him to Old Deer Park. He also coached rugby union at Swansea, Newport Gwent Dragons, Worcester Warriors and Doncaster Knights and was part of Graham Henry’s Wales coaching squad which won the Grand Slam in 2005. He also coached the Great Britain Rugby League team in 1996.

The lunch, which includes a two-course meal costs £40.
