On Sunday 17th we held the annual Minis Dragon Festival, a day that brings together everything that is great about the club in terms of friendly sporting rivalry, community spirit and good fun. We hosted 10 different clubs and 80 teams involved across the age groups U7 to U10. The pitches were professionally marked in advance, the festival village popped up with a cake stand, crepe pancake van, an ice cream man and even the weather turned out with blue skies and sunshine throughout the rugby morning.
With the covetous Dragon trophy at stake, the level of rugby was high and the 700 players managed to score an impressive 1,590 tries. After the games, every player was rewarded with the traditional Dragon Festival sausages & chips which ensured lots of happy faces at the end of a wonderful rugby day.
Overall honours went to our rugby friends from Hammersmith & Fulham who won the Dragon Trophy. Feedback from some of our visiting clubs is that this festival is the highlight of their year and they are already looking forward to joining us in 2020.
Such an event could not happen without an army of volunteers. A big thanks go to those who helped with pitch marshal duties, car-parking, erecting of gazebos, selling cakes, organising the raffle and the programme, coaching & refereeing, first aiding, announcing and presenting trophies.
Photos from the festival can be purchased directly online from match day photographers DE Photos.

We look forward to seeing you all same time same place next year!
