Mo Case Show Case – Movember with London Welsh

On Wednesday 16th October London Welsh RFC held a Players, Partners and Friends ‘Mo Case Show Case’ fundraiser at The Hope in Wandsworth. The aim was to raise £300 for Movember through the sale of raffle and bingo tickets. Griff Whitson, aka Prop Star, hosted the evening and, using his nifty shapes and witty banter, he entertained a crowd of over 60 people. There was singing, dancing, bingo, some awful moustaches and an array of prizes – including some favourite club tipples from Match Day Sponsors Penderyn and Devils Bridge Welsh Rum!

The event comprised of 3 games of bingo separated by bouts of singing from Evan Prior, Ed Couzens and Ewan Gully, a Mo Case Show Case and a raffle. The Mo Case Show Case was a competition in which all the gents who were taking part in Movember had their moustaches cheered, or in some cases booed (Sion Cowdy), to decide the winner and loser. The event was slightly rigged because I (Will Ponty) ended up winning, despite the fact I have grown something that can only be likened to a pre-pubescent teenager!

Anyhow, I would like to thank all those who attended and assisted with the fundraiser’s organisation, for making the night so special. I would also like to share my appreciation to The Hope, Barch Gym, Sambrook’s Brewery, Steven Shingler, The Movember Charity and London Welsh who supported the evening through their generous contributions to our raffle prize pool.

The fundraiser was a success. London Welsh raised £330 for Movember and there has been a big ask from those who attended to make it an annual occasion.

The London Welsh players  hope to see you all at the game against Bournemouth this Saturday where we will collecting for the charity and finishing our tosh attack in style!
