This Sunday sees the welcome return of London Welsh Women to ODP, for their first league game of the 2022/23 season.
The women’s league officially commenced last weekend and the scores illustrated that it’s going to be a hotly contested and tough league this year.
Our visitors on Sunday are Oxford Quins and many of you will recognise the name after the club’s trip to play our men’s 1st XV in September.
Quins are a new team for LWWRFC, having never played them previously and following the RFU’s league restructure for us. They had a strong start to their league campaign, beating Chesham 71-10.
Welsh have also had a positive start to the season with a solid performance in pre-season and increasing numbers at training. Sadly the side has had to say farewell to some key players, who have moved away (some only temporarily to University though and we look forward to having them back in the future!)
This means that whilst we have s strong playing side, we are lacking a little in depth, so the squad has launched a new recruitment campaign in a bid to attract new players to our fantastic club and LW family. Please do promote/share this if you can!
London Welsh are led once again this season by Head Coach Michael Griffiths, who has done an incredible job developing the side over the past few years. We were also thrilled to recruit our new Assistant/Backs Coach – Blake Mingay to support Michael and we are already seeing the benefits of his input.
Daniela Cherneva is again providing our physio and rehab support to keep everyone in one piece, and we are very excited to announce the selection of our new Team Captain – Alice Gayner.
We are again sponsored by 2iC and are very grateful for their continued support.
The lack of train strikes this Sunday will hopefully see a good crowd of supporters at ODP to support the team when they kick off at 2:30pm.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Alice Gayner
