LWRFC U13 Dinner

It’s always an important moment for a young rugby player to step up from mini to youth rugby – and last Friday the latest additions to the London Welsh youth setup (the Under 13s) were inducted into the fold with a memorable evening at Old Deer Park.

Over forty 12 year olds were presented with their London Welsh Youth membership ties at a special dinner to celebrate the kick-off to their season. It was a proper celebration of the London Welsh community, with 1st XV Head Coach (Cai Griffiths) and his deputy (Andy Evans) presenting the ties to the boys. The evening also featured some lively U13 coaching group presentations, interactive games, a Q & A from our esteemed Performance Squad coaches, and even a (slightly out-of-tune) rendition of ‘Bread of Heaven’…

So after this special evening for the U13s, what were the key takeaways for our young players?

They’re now a fully-fledged part of the London Welsh youth community; they know exactly what the historic club is all about; they know how to celebrate with their teammates – and most importantly the Performance Squad leadership have given the three key pieces of information in order to succeed as a player:

1) Always listen to your coaches
2) Always listen to your parents
3) AND Stay off your phones!!!!!!
