LONDON WELSH
WOMEN

Our History

London Welsh Women have been a long-standing part of the London Welsh set up at Old Deer Park. A competitive, but social, squad with players new and old, we pride ourselves on our inclusive set up.

Fully Inclusive

Our last full season in 2019/20 saw us finish 4th in National Championship 1 South East (North). However, it also saw us manage to field a near constant full squad of 20 for every fixture which demonstrates the considerable depth we’re building within the team.

Hampered in 2020/21 due to the ongoing pandemic in regard to game time and training, the squad certainly didn’t let up on the social aspects of the game. Virtual lotto, quizzes, award nights and even a ‘tour’ were planned via Zoom, allowing the team feel to continue. We managed a successful spell of training as restrictions allowed in late-2020 which also included some great wins in local ‘Ready 4 Rugby’ fixtures against Harlequins 3 and Teddington.

We’re looking forward with optimism at a likely return to normal pre-season in Summer 2021, and a return to contact fixtures for a full season. Boots will be dusted off and the joints might feel a bit creaky, but the work put in to keep the team together virtually will no doubt set us up well to get back to basics and work towards our first fixtures as a team.
