Lasyl and Location:Live sponsor London Welsh Colts Academy

London Welsh is thrilled to announce two new sponsors for our Colts Academy and one brand partnership that should see the players prosper this season.

The Colts Academy was set up this season to prepare our U17’s and U18’s for senior rugby, be it at the club or at university. Cai Griffiths has already taken a player into the Performance Squad from training and this is something we expect to happen more often as we get deeper into the season.  We have 45 registered players in the Academy and are trying to run two squads in the Surrey league to maximise game time.   The Academy is coached by Blake Mingay and Andy Evans with guidance and support coming from our performance squad and we are always looking for new players to join us.

As part of the Sponsorship, both Location:Live and Lasyl will be on our brand-new, reversible, training tops designed by Rhino Teamwear, along with our Community sponsors Chestertons.  The players picked up their stash packs from the club last Sunday, which was funded by our sponsors and some generous donations from our brand partners, including Veloforte, L’Oreal and O2.

Gareth V Jones, Director Of Minis and Youth, Colts Team Manager

“We want these lads to have a great time making memories on and off the pitch whilst being part of London Welsh.  Our goal is to enable a smooth transition from Colts rugby to Senior rugby, be it at university or as part of our Performance Squad.  Nothing would make us prouder than to see our Youth system developing players for our Performance Squad over the next few years as we aim to deliver on our 5 year plan and beyond.  I would personally like to thank our sponsors and brand partners for their generosity in supporting this group of players as we aim to make their last couple of seasons in Youth rugby one they will not forget.”

Neil Jones’: Location: Live

“I have been involved with this group for 6 seasons now and I have enjoyed seeing the players develop on and off the pitch. With this Group there is a strong sense of identity and team, which epitomises London Welsh as a Club.

I am delighted to support the Youth Academy as a sponsor, this is not about my business so much, it is all about helping to provide the best environment for these young men to train and progress their rugby to the best level and so create a strong pathway into senior LW rugby within the next 2 seasons.  Come down to support their games; they are a great group of players.”

Chris & Dom Hellel: Lasyl Audio Visual Centre.

“Lasyl are proud to be able to sponsor the Colts, especially as both directors’ children have played for the club over the last 10 years and have loved being part of it.

Over the years our business has benefited from London Welsh supporters coming into the store and purchasing audio visual equipment and this is the least we could do.  In fact, going forward any London Welsh supporter who buys from our business, we will be donating 5% of the purchase price back into the club.

We can’t wait to see how the Colts get on this season as they have an amazing squad with huge potential.

The new Rhino Teamwear training tops look fantastic and we are very proud to be one of the sponsors.  We will have ours on display in our demo room at our store in Sheen.”

London Welsh U18 are playing Richmond at the RAA on Sunday 10th October, K.O., tbc in the RFU National Cup.  128 teams from across the country have entered, with teams playing locally first.  The boys would love a strong following from our London Welsh supporters and look forward to this local derby.
