Jubilee honour for head of women & girls rugby

As we all look forward to the forthcoming festivities for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, one of our veteran members will have an extra reason to celebrate!

Paula “Coops” Cooper has been recognised in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Birthday Honours List announced yesterday. Coops has been a member of London Welsh for almost 20 years and was recently awarded her 250th Playing Appearance Cap. Not only is she a playing member of our women’s team, she set up, developed and coaches girls youth rugby at the club and has recently been voted in as the new Head of Women and Girl’s Rugby by the women’s section.

However, for those who don’t already know, when Coops isn’t at the rugby club, she is a Police Officer with the Metropolitan Police and it is for this she has been duly recognised by the Queen. She has been awarded the Order of the British Empire Medal for Services to Policing.

This is an incredible achievement and we are all hugely proud of her for this, all she does for the club and extend our huge congratulations to her – Paula Cooper BEM
