Herbert Hugh Thomas Obituary

Members will be sorry to learn of the death of Hugh Thomas last Sunday 29th November aged 83.

Hugh, also known affectionately as either “HH” or “Hugh Mawr” joined the Club in 1974 and was Club Chairman in 1997/8. He was always a strong supporter of the Club.

Following a successful career in business, Hugh became a director of BSC Industries, which was the job creation arm set up to help compensate for job losses in the steel industry. He was therefore involved in many new start-ups.
A keen rugby man, Hugh was a Vice President of Crawshays RFC and played for Cambridge University but was sadly denied a blue due to injury.

Hugh remained professionally active into his ninth decade retaining a consultancy in one of Wales’ leading media companies and hardly ever missed meetings of the Cardiff Business Club.

He will be particularly missed by his regular Thursday/Friday lunching friends and staff.
