London Welsh is extremely sorry to hear of the passing of Anthony ‘Anto’ Carrol.
On Wednesday the 23rd of June 2021 Anthony Carroll passed away after a long battle with cancer. He died at home with his parents and two sons Sam and Joe in attendance. He had not long celebrated his birthday.
Anto lived just over Twickenham Bridge in St Margaret’s and starting following London Welsh in the early 90’s. He became a fan and supporter over the years and even held his wedding reception in the London Welsh clubhouse.
A consistently friendly and abundantly generous man to all, he often had London Welsh staff and players lodging in his house in the professional years.
He worked for both the club and Old Deer Park for many years and one of his numerous jobs over this time was to help set up the grandstands at the Kassam Stadium with Club and sponsors branding before our games there and of course to remove them after every game.
He was very well known amongst the London Welsh fraternity and he worked hard for the club. He will be missed terribly by his many friends at O.D.P.
He is survived by his two sons, both in their twenties, together with his sister, two brothers and mother and father.
The family would like to thank everyone who has supported them throughout these difficult months.
Anto battled hard, never complained and appreciated all the love, care and messages he received.
There will be a Memorial Service for Anto in the Twickenham area later in the year when these pandemic eases and we are allowed to meet again.
Rest In Peace Anto Gorffwysed Mewn Hedd Ant
