Duckham The Bogyman In Young Coast Wing's Nightmare
The Evening Post
A snap decision gave the young West Coaster Colin Skates a nightmare experience against the British Lions here yesterday. On the spur of the moment Skates took the left wing in the West Coast-Buller team, and against him David Duckham scored a record six tries.
Lions Force To Reshuffle Team
By John Reason in Greymouth
The British Lions have had to reconstruct their pack to play West Coast and Buller at Greymouth today because Gorden Brown, their Scottish Lock, has an ear infection and sinus trouble.
John Spencer also pulled a hamstring in training and so the Lions have had to make a change in the back as well.
Mike Roberts groups back from tight-head to Brown's position in the second row and John Pullen returns as hooker.
The Lions lead 31-0 at half-time. By then Duckham had already scored five tries in one of the wettest corners of the field , and the only problem facing him was the never-ending splash of mud which he got in his eyes every time he spanked the ball down.
